V.I.T.R.I.O.L. is an abbrevation of latin ambiguous symbolical
formula of alchemy, the chief aim of which was to discover how
to turn ordinary metals into gold. ( Visita interiorem terrae
rectificando invenies operae lapidem ) which means: „Go down
into entrails of the earth, by Rectification you will find the
Philosopher's Stone”. The initials created Vitriol - a word of
initiation, which formulates rules of transmutation process. It
also symbolizes the return of human being to the most intimate
core, a descent into depths, to the bottom of one's own soul and
the search of its most secret content in order to find the
indivisible centre on which it is possible to build different
personality, new man. In many cases the stone is credited with
giving life to the inanimate. The Stone represents also the
divine spark that brings life to material existence, and is
thought to be “hidden” within matter .
The movie V.I.T.R.I.O.L is a clay animation which was recorded
on 16mm film. Owing to this technique I was able to create
unreal and mysterious process of creation of my ceramic
sculptures, directly connected with the characteristic features
of this material. For me this short movie (constitute) bridges a
gap between statics of sculptural objects and incessantly lively
and active imagination of the creator. The process of creation
makes motion. This motion, properly showed, uncovers hidden
object`s life - „metals turned into gold”. The movie VITRIOL was
displayed during 3RD International Ceramic Film Festival –
PROJECTIONS D`ARGILE in Montpellier, France 2002.

„Litery V.I.T.R.I.O.L. tworzą akronim łacińskiej, wieloznacznej,
symbolicznej siedmiowyrazowej ( odpowiadającej siedmiu planetom
) formuły alchemików, streszczającej ich doktrynę: Visita
interiorem terrae rectificando invenies operae lapidem, co
znaczy: Znijdź do wnętrzności Ziemi, destylując znajdziesz
kamień filozoficzny. Akronim często używany w związku z procesem
transmutacji tj. przemiany metali zwykłych w szlachetne przede
wszystkim w złoto i w srebro. Z inicjałów tych utworzono wyraz
inicjacyjny, vitriol wyrażający prawo procesu transmutacji lub
symbolizujący powrót istoty ludzkiej do jej najintymniejszego
jądra, zejście w głąb siebie samego, na dno własnej duszy,
poszukiwanie jej najtajniejszej treści, aby znaleźć niepodzielne
centrum, na którym zbudować by można inną osobowość, nowego

V.I.T.R.I.O.L. to czterominutowy film animowany wykonany
techniką zdjęć poklatkowych, w którym wykorzystana została glina
jako materia kształtująca wszystkie poruszające się formy.
Dzięki tej technice byłem w stanie wykreować nierealny proces
powstawania moich obiektów rzeźbiarskich, bezpośrednio związany
z materią ceramiczną i jej plastycznymi przeobrażeniami. Stanowi
on pomost pomiędzy statyką obiektu rzeźbiarskiego, a żywą i
ruchliwą wyobraźnią twórcy w bezpośrednim akcie kreacji. Film
prezentowany był m.in. podczas trzeciej edycji festiwalu filmów
o ceramice PROJECTIONS D`ARGILE w Montpellier we Francji w 2002
roku.
